Learning to Pray

I was thinking about prayer and wondering why people have a difficult time with it. It occurred to me that many new believers are shy when it comes to prayer because they aren’t really sure how to do it. I have been a Christian for 32 years now and there are times when I feel like I don’t know how to pray either! Wouldn’t it be great if an older, seasoned prayer warrior could come along beside you and help you with the right words and teach you how to pray? Wouldn’t it be great to just listen in to hear someone who really knows how to touch God’s heart? As believers, we are promised the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us in prayer, searching our heart and thoughts and tells us what to pray. The Holy Spirit will teach you to pray if you just ask. As we yield our hearts to the Holy Spirit during prayer, and lay down all false pretenses and pride, the Holy Spirit will enable us to pray prayers that touch the heart of God. He will be our teacher. What could be better than that? God, please touch us today and show us how to pray and let our spirits be in line with the Holy Spirit. Help us to yield ourselves to Him and let him intercede for us through our prayers. Help us not to let our pride or our fear of not being eloquent prevent us from coming to you in prayer. Teach us, Lord, to bring everything to you, no matter how small or how big, and lay it at your feet. Thank you for giving us prayer as a means to commune with you
